Warwick Hockey Club
The Club offers individuals and families the opportunity to get involved with hockey on and off the field and to exercise, socialise and energise.
Whilst Warwick Hockey Club is not one of our typical clients, they do prove the point that great things grow from small acorns.
Warwick Hockey Club is not a super club like the Cannock’s, Olton’s or Beeston Clubs in the Midland region. They have the ethos of being a family, friendly club with a fun ethic and when they step out to face any opponent in any game from their children through to Men’s Veteran players they are committed, determined and out to win the match.
Warwick Hockey Club started in 1920, today they run a variety of teams Men’s 1s through to 5s and a Men’s Veterans (over 35s), Ladies 1s through to 4s and Junior Mixed teams U8s, U10s, U12s, U14s, as well as Boys and Girls U18s sides. There are over 350 members playing from the age of 5 right through to late 60s.
Their relationship with us started back in the Summer of 2012; just before the London Olympic Games. Moo Design were approached to help design, along with a guiding event committee, their season starting Open Day and incorporate into those celebrations the achievements of the Ladies GB Team winning Olympic bronze and the Men’s equivalent coming just outside the medals in 4th.
The brief was relatively straight forward, to strengthen the corporate identity of the Club and engage the existing members, as well as the local university students form Warwick and Coventry to come along to their Open Day in early September before the league started in early October. This involved the design of event leaflets, posters, e-shots, on the day booklet and signage/posters.
The more challenging part was to entice one of the GB Women’s Hockey bronze medal winning team to come along to the event, take part in the mixed tournament and then give out some prizes. Eventually, Sally Walton and Anna Turney (a winter Paralympic skier) were flown in by helicopter, welcomed by over 100 ecstatic Warwick Hockey Club members and their families.
We have been working with the Club and their 25 strong committee for over four years building up their marketing collateral. This has included a quarterly A4 newsletter, event collateral (invites, tickets, booklets), AGM reports. Moo Design are also working with another Club sub committee and have recently embarked on the refreshment and revitalisation of the Club’s database related website. The results have been impressive with the attraction of the Club increasing from 147 senior members in 2012 to nearer 200 today. The Club also boasts an impressive junior section with over 120 regularly playing children.
